Hello from room 3!
I believe we are finally starting to settle into the routine of school. They are doing great! I have had so many compliments on our class and how they already demonstrate that they can walk quietly in line, they can listen respectfully, and wait patiently. I struck gold with my class! For the last few weeks, we have mostly been working on classroom procedures. Now that those are pretty settled, it is time to get to the hard work. Hard. But FUN. This week in ELA: we will be working on initial sounds and blending the onset and rime of a word and recognizing Uu, Vv, Ww, Xx, Yy, and Zz. Students are beginning to understand that they should only use uppercase letters at the beginning of their names- the rest should be lower case. If they write their names at home, please reinforce this idea. We will also be working on rhyming. Point out any rhymes you find at home! We will be reading Jazz Baby as our fictional text, How Do You Use Water? as our informational text, and The Clever Turtle as our folktale Math: we will be continuing to work on counting to 20, one to one correspondence of counting objects up to 10 and writing our numerals to 10. We are also working on the days of the week and our shapes. We will play Labor Day bingo on Tuesday (maybe also on Wednesday) REMINDERS ***picture forms are sent home 9/6 (picture day is 9/14) *** Don't forget to send back in permission slips and $ for our field trip ***sign up for parent teacher conferences (you should have received an email with the link) ***PLEASE consider volunteering for a 30 minute time slot to run one of the games at Harvest Festival.
